Looking Back
For third grade, we used LifePac - Language Arts, Math, Bible, Science, and Social Studies. We supplemented with All About Reading and All About Spelling and some handwriting books. At the time we had all intentions of using an Abeka Art and Music curriculums last year as well, but we didn't get it planned out. We did a few lessons of the music, and Tyler asked me if I knew anything about music... so I knew I was out of my league immediately. Daddy will have to teach that on the weekends in the coming years.

Welcome!
One of my dearest friends had the idea of blogging our daily adventures in schooling - for journaling, but also so that people can look in and see what homeschooling looks like in actual practice. There is a lot of misinformation out there about what homeschooling looks like - so here is our account of what WE do. This doesn't mean that we do it perfectly by any stretch of the imagination, but this is our way of doing things. No two homeschooling moms do everything the same - which is a good thing because we can personalize things to our children... since it's a much smaller group of students.
For starters, we began doing our classes separately last year where James does his lessons first starting at 10, and Tyler does his immediately after James. We are on more of a year-round schedule as well.. so our first day was June 4th. We do our schooling for 5-6 weeks and then take a week off to give us some downtime to regroup. It works well for us, and shorter breaks throughout the year help us with not losing the information learned during those long summer breaks. Our "summer" is about 6 weeks in April & May.

Anyway, I thought I'd catch you up with our first day of school pictures... and then move on to what's been doing on this last week... because I only began daily photos this week.
